Exotic flowers, positive vibes...Nishagandhi (queen of the night, Epiphyllum oxypetalum), the fragrance of love)

Pictures of Nishagandhi (queen of the night, Epiphyllum oxypetalum).

This flower blooms only at night; during the daytime, it looks like what you see in the picture. At night when it blooms, it emits a wonderful fragrance, addressed poetically as the' fragrance of love'.

I searched my collection in my hard drive recently and found this picture. This was taken about 5 years ago during one of my visits to my ancestral house. I did not know the importance of this unique flower at that time, apparently, I do not have a picture taken at night when it blooms emitting divine fragrance. If I happen to get it from my relative who might have taken its picture I will surely post it here.

That flower is strange but I liked it anyways. Nature might have designed in such a way to escape from cruel and irrational human plucking. hehe

Thanks Dumcho :)

The white part is beautiful. The pink part reminds me of something scary from out of a sci-fi movie. Quite a contradiction this interesting flower.

This is fascinating! I wonder how the flower blooms at night instead of in the day when every other flower blooms. It's puzzling and intriguing. :)

Hi Sheena:)
Thank you for the cool comment.
There is nothing scary, it is just like a flower in reality in natural settings, lol:)
The fact that it blooms only at night is its peculiarity :), one of the wonders of nature !

I think I learned about this flower in the Denis the Menace movie years ago, or one very similar. I love that lesson, that there is a time when things may become of value. You just never know. Or how about this one: We all have our seasons to bloom, and no two may be exactly alike.

I have never seen one nor heard about it but what a beautiful metaphor. Sometimes, we take for granted things we see because they are not as pretty nor grand. When the right time comes, this magnificent creature will then flourish and fills the senses with its scent, thus the admiration.

Thanks for this awesome comment, buddy :)
You are absolutely right; the message I wanted to convey through this post was just the same :)
